Stone Village is a unique natural wonder of Ukraine and one of the mysterious "places of power" where you can feel the mighty energy. Much alike the English Stonehenge, the origin of the Stone Village has not been fully established and is shrouded in legends.

According to one of the legends, once there was a real village on that site. One day, a lonely traveler walked by and asked a permission to spend the night in the village. But none of the locals let him in. The traveler shook his head and left the village, but all the buildings turned into stones at once.
According to another legend, God himself visited the place and even left his footstep on one of the stones.
Scientists suggest that huge boulders were brought there by the last glacier.
There is also a hypothesis that enormous stones served as altars for ancient druids.

Stone Village
Stone Village houses huge stones, resembling village houses (some of them are two or even three-storeyed). There are narrow streets between them. The Village also has a “school” and a “church”. If you wander for a long time among these ancient, moss-covered boulders, you’ll get a strong feeling that someone does live in this place…

According to one of the legends, once there was a battle between God and the Devil on one of the stones. The Devil lost and rolled down into the underworld clinging to the ground with his claws. God took a few steps and ascended to heaven. Claws’ traces of the Devil and the footsteps of God have survived until now. Surprisingly, the water in the “footsteps of God” remains warm in all weather and any season.

Stone Village is located in a beautiful dense forest. At the end of May, the blossoming azalea pleases the eye, and in summer you can taste delicious berries such as strawberries in June, blueberries in July, cowberries and stone brambleberries in August. As autumn approaches, Stone Village geneously pleases mushroom pickers.
We will also have open air lunch. Try the most delicious dishes cooked on fire according to the old Polesye recipe.

7 a.m. – early departure from Kyiv by a comfortable bus, transfer to Olevsk
10 a.m. – Olevsk sightseeing tour (the town was founded in the 8th century)
12 a.m. – transfer to Rudnya Zamyslovetskaya village, a pedestrian tour to Stone Village.
3 p.m. – open air lunch, rest.
6 p.m. – return to Kyiv (arrival around 10 p.m.)

We did the beer tour in Kiev. Five beers in five different bars for two of us and our guide. That was a great chance to hang out with some locals, get to know the history and city a bit more, all while enjoying some of the unique local beers you can only find in Kiev. Our guide was very knowledgeable and great company and we had a fantastic evening! Highly recommended!
Highly recommend taking a tour with Wonders & Holidays. I learned so much about Ukrainian history that I wouldn't have on my own and the tour guides feel like friends (rather than just guides). I went on the Kiev in 180 minutes sightseeing tour with Igor and it was such a great experience. He was an excellent guide not only did he explain the history so well, but also answered any related or unrelated questions about Kiev and Ukraine. Both Igor and our driver Gestutas were so personable, accommodating, kind and professional - I hope I get the chance to go back again to take another tour with them.
