Air balloons festival in Kamianets-Podilskyi

Kamianets-Podilskyi

Twice a year the air balloons festival takes place in Kamianets-Podilskyi. This festival took place for the first time over 20 years ago and every year is visited by more and more tourists from Ukraine and other countries.

Kamianets-Podilskyi is famous for its medieval fortress considered one of the seven wonders of Ukraine. Modern Kamianets-Podilskyi was first mentioned in 1062 as a town of the Kievan Rus’ state. Legends say a city on this spot was founded by the ancient Dacians.

The festival in Kamianets-Podilskyi is one of the most breathtaking events in Ukraine. You can take part in a large-scale city holiday, see the unique sights of Ukrainian Podillia and, of course, take a hot air balloon flight over an ancient castle! You have always dreamed about it, haven’t you?

Wonders & Holidays is the official travel partner of the festival, and it offers you an all-inclusive tour with a rich and exciting program. Book in advance – the tour is very popular!

* – Legends of the Khotyn Fortress

This place comes with legends especially about the origins of the large dark spot on the side of the wall of the fortress. One legend says the spot was created by the tears of the Khotyn rebels against the Ottoman Turks that were killed inside fortress. Another legend has it that the spot was created from young girl Oksana’s tears, whom the Turks buried alive in the walls of the fort. But where the truth lies?

We had an amazing trip to Kyiv thanks to Wonders & Holidays team. This place is not to be missed- it’s magical we will be back! We had such a great driver Vladimir who knew exactly how best to navigate around Kiev with fantastic local knowledge. And Daria our guide was exceptional speaking multiple languages and making our trip interesting and fun. And big thanks to Nick who put this tailored made programme for us the way we wanted and accommodated us on every wish we made to be fit for a little child. We have amazing memories of our 3 days in Kiev! Thank you!

We did the beer tour in Kiev. Five beers in five different bars for two of us and our guide. That was a great chance to hang out with some locals, get to know the history and city a bit more, all while enjoying some of the unique local beers you can only find in Kiev. Our guide was very knowledgeable and great company and we had a fantastic evening! Highly recommended!

Highly recommend taking a tour with Wonders & Holidays. I learned so much about Ukrainian history that I wouldn't have on my own and the tour guides feel like friends (rather than just guides). I went on the Kiev in 180 minutes sightseeing tour with Igor and it was such a great experience. He was an excellent guide not only did he explain the history so well, but also answered any related or unrelated questions about Kiev and Ukraine. Both Igor and our driver Gestutas were so personable, accommodating, kind and professional - I hope I get the chance to go back again to take another tour with them.
