Ukraine Ghost Tour Highlights:
Koretsky Castle

Korec

A dramatic event that happened here in the mid 17th century brought down a terrible curse on the castle and its owners: the Koretsky family ceased to exist, the castle lost its former grandeur, and it was completely burned down at the beginning of the 19th century.

Today, you can see the ruins of the fortress on the picturesque slopes above the Korchik River, and look into the underground passages, where sobs and moans can still be heard from time to time.

Ostrog

Ostrog

Today, the Ostrog Castle (14th-16th centuries) is one of the few originally preserved castles in Ukraine. Its medieval towers and walls keep many secrets and the ghost of the “black princess” Galshka Ostrozhskaya guards them all.

However, Ostrog’s main secrets are hidden underground. They say that there was another, underground city. At the beginning of the 18th century, the Jesuits tried to explore it, but everyone who had descended into the dungeons, disappeared. We will also come down into the crypts of the Ostrog Academy monastery church that keep the remains of the monks who lived there…

Kremenets

Kremenets

The ruins of the fortress on Mount Bona can be seen from anywhere in the city. The mountain was named after Bona Sforza, the Queen of Poland, who owned Kremenets in the 16th century. They say that Bona wanted to be forever young and therefore she concluded an agreement with the devil and bathed in baths filled with the virgins’ blood. Local people say that the souls of innocent girls still wander around the ruins of the castle at nights.

Well, in the daytime, an impressive panorama of the city and its surroundings opens up.

Tarakanov Fort

Tarakanov

The fort is called “the town of ghosts”. Its dungeons are still little explored, therefore it is recommended to visit them only with an experienced guide. We are lucky to have such guide that will lead our tour.

According to one of the legends, the time generator is hidden somewhere in the depths of the fort. So if you get into its coverage, you may timetravel. You can learn the other secrets of the fort only on our tour.

Dubno Castle

Dubno

Dubno Castle (15th-17th centuries) is another patrimonial estate of the princes Ostrozhsky that keeps many secrets too. You will learn some of them in the dark dungeons. In one of the dungeons, the grandees once feasted, and in the other, the executioner conducted interrogations using terrible torture instruments that you will be able to see.

Dubno Castle also houses its own ghost – the phantom of Princess Beata sometimes appears at the windows of the palace galleries.

Tunnel of Love

Klevan

The final point of our journey. Thanks to photographers and journalists, the Love Tunnel is considered one of the world’s most romantic places.

There are no ghosts there, though … who knows what secrets are hidden in the green thickets.

We did the beer tour in Kiev. Five beers in five different bars for two of us and our guide. That was a great chance to hang out with some locals, get to know the history and city a bit more, all while enjoying some of the unique local beers you can only find in Kiev. Our guide was very knowledgeable and great company and we had a fantastic evening! Highly recommended!

Highly recommend taking a tour with Wonders & Holidays. I learned so much about Ukrainian history that I wouldn't have on my own and the tour guides feel like friends (rather than just guides). I went on the Kiev in 180 minutes sightseeing tour with Igor and it was such a great experience. He was an excellent guide not only did he explain the history so well, but also answered any related or unrelated questions about Kiev and Ukraine. Both Igor and our driver Gestutas were so personable, accommodating, kind and professional - I hope I get the chance to go back again to take another tour with them.
