Gastronomic excursion “The tastes of Kyiv”. We will walk along the central Kyiv’s streets, visit unique places and taste the most delicious dishes and drinks, many of which have already become a symbol of the city: the famous Kyiv cake (the two airy layers of meringue with cashew, chocolate glaze, and a buttercream-like filling is baked in Kyiv since 1956!); pies in an old bakery; “Kyiv Evening” candies; Kyiv’s coffee with liquor in a mystical coffee shop; space borscht in a tube; Kyiv’s candied fruits and 8 kinds of Chicken Kyiv.

We are ready to meet with the Ukrainian cuisine on the excursion “Ukrainian tastes”. We will walk along the Podil in Kyiv, learn the history of Cossack food, which monks ate, and what were the festivals of street food in the 18th century. We will taste the dishes and drinks that the people in Kyiv ate and drank in the 17-19 centuries. And we have got a special dish for you – the Ukrainian delicacy salo in chocolate!
For lunch, in the national restaurant we will serve delicious varenyky, and in the afternoon, let’s have a master class on the varenyky molding. Have you ever tried it? It is boiled dumplings stuffed with potato, cheese, meat or another filling.

On the second part of the excursion “Ukrainian tastes”, we will learn culinary traditions of different regions of Ukraine. In the central Kyiv’s market, we will bargain, we will try Kyiv’s street food, we will taste different kinds of salo. Then we will have an excursion with a tasting to the Museum of Cheese and lunch in a restaurant of vibrant Odessa cuisine. After lunch, we will have a master class of Ukrainian cuisine. We will learn how to cook borsch, pampushki, vetuny with veal and Chicken Kyiv!
Zhytomyr
After breakfast, we will leave the capital for a while and go to Polissya (100 km from Kyiv). We will visit the production at the ice cream factory “Rud” or the confectionery factory “Ruden”.
Excursion to the museum “Craft yard”, a master class of Ukrainian cuisine in the restaurant, and lunch. Excursion to the Polesskaya Hata Museum is your chance to understand the Ukrainian culture and life of the 18-19 centuries. Master class: fried potato pancakes deruny, mushroom claret, pies.

We did the beer tour in Kiev. Five beers in five different bars for two of us and our guide. That was a great chance to hang out with some locals, get to know the history and city a bit more, all while enjoying some of the unique local beers you can only find in Kiev. Our guide was very knowledgeable and great company and we had a fantastic evening! Highly recommended!
Highly recommend taking a tour with Wonders & Holidays. I learned so much about Ukrainian history that I wouldn't have on my own and the tour guides feel like friends (rather than just guides). I went on the Kiev in 180 minutes sightseeing tour with Igor and it was such a great experience. He was an excellent guide not only did he explain the history so well, but also answered any related or unrelated questions about Kiev and Ukraine. Both Igor and our driver Gestutas were so personable, accommodating, kind and professional - I hope I get the chance to go back again to take another tour with them.
