Lake Synevir and Shipot Falls

You will leave Lviv in the morning and an hour later you will admire the mountain scenery, because there are magnificent hills outside the city, which are called “the Carpathians in miniature”.

On Volovetsky Pass, boldly reach for cameras to capture beautiful views of the Polonina Borzhava Mountain Range sheltering Shipot Falls.

Upon exploring the waterfall and moving through Synevir Pass, you will find the largest alpine lake in Ukraine, Synevir.

Then you’ll have a tasty Carpathian lunch and get some time to stroll around the lake, enjoying clean Carpathian air, and to visit the local Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center.

Shipot Falls

Pilipets

One of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Ukrainian Carpathians got its name from the word “shepit” (“whisper”), because the sound of water falling from a height of 14 meters reminds whispering from afar.

A more romantic version of this name’s origin is associated with the legend about lovers. You will certainly hear it near the waterfall.

Having admired how crystal water is broken into millions of drops on stones, you can, if you wish, climb Mount Gymba. Incredibly beautiful landscapes of the Carpathian Mountains open up there.

Lake Synevir

National park "Synevir"

Getting to the largest lake in Transcarpathia, which is hidden 989 meters above sea level in the midst of tall trees, is not so easy. But when you see its purest waters, you will understand that the journey is worth it.

It seems that you can catch fish with your hands in such clear water and its temperature does not exceed +11Co even in summer. If you wish, you can walk along the suspension path, hung between the tree crowns, to see the lake from above.

Moreover, you will be told the sad love story of Vira and Sin and other legends associated with the Carpathian Sea Eye.

Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center

National park "Synevir"

In Synevir Rehabilitation Center you will learn the stories of its pets, brown bears, who were illegally kept encaged.

The rescued animals feel well now and the founders plan to shelter a few more bears. These bears are currently living in conditions that violate the wild animals keeping rules.

We did the beer tour in Kiev. Five beers in five different bars for two of us and our guide. That was a great chance to hang out with some locals, get to know the history and city a bit more, all while enjoying some of the unique local beers you can only find in Kiev. Our guide was very knowledgeable and great company and we had a fantastic evening! Highly recommended!

Highly recommend taking a tour with Wonders & Holidays. I learned so much about Ukrainian history that I wouldn't have on my own and the tour guides feel like friends (rather than just guides). I went on the Kiev in 180 minutes sightseeing tour with Igor and it was such a great experience. He was an excellent guide not only did he explain the history so well, but also answered any related or unrelated questions about Kiev and Ukraine. Both Igor and our driver Gestutas were so personable, accommodating, kind and professional - I hope I get the chance to go back again to take another tour with them.
